Postgraduate and ECR Pre-conference Workshop
Research Higher Degree and postdoctoral researchers are invited to attend a workshop exploring the “state of play” of Asian diasporic studies within Australia, and more broadly within the context of North America and Europe. The aim of this workshop is to assist ECRS to better situate their projects, both intellectually and professionally. Academics leading the workshop include Christine Kim (Simon Fraser), Dean Chan (University of Wollongong), and Tseen Khoo (RMIT). The workshop is convened by Jacquie Lo (ANU).

Program:
10.00-10.30 am – Coffee and introduction
10.30-12.00 pm – State of play: diversity, confluence and hot spots
12.00-1.00 pm – Lunch
1.00-2.30 pm – ECR presentation(2 sessions) with feedback from panel
3.15-4pm – State of the market: grants/jobs/publishing
ECR presentations: participants are encouraged to submit an essay by 30 Oct which will be read by members of the panel. On the day, the authors will have 5 min to speak to their projects and receive feedback from the panel. The workshop is gratis. Morning and afternoon tea provided; lunch will be ‘pay your own’ at a nearby cheap and cheerful café.
